NEW DELHI: A 19-year-old man was arrested from Mayapuri on Monday for harassing a woman on a social media platform.
Police identified the accused as Rohit Arya, a resident of Lajwanti Garden.
Deputy commissioner of police southwest Manoj C said they received a complaint on January 21, on the integrated complaint monitoring system ICMS, where the complainant reported that someone had created her fake social media profile and had mentioned her mobile number on it publicly and made her photographs viral. A case was registered.
The police zeroed down on Arya and he was arrested from Mayapuri area.
During interrogation, he disclosed that he had earlier sent a proposal for friendship to the complainant but she refused. After that, he started threatening her and spreading objectionable photographs on social media.
