DGP to cops: Crack down on cyber crime

Lucknow: After a spate of incidents of cyber crammers attacking government twitter handles, director general of police Mukul Goel directed cops to focus on cyber crime and run cyber awareness campaigns.
“In the modern era of globalisation and information technology, cyber crime and online financial fraud have emerged as a social and economic challenge, affecting not only the educated class, but also the people living in rural areas. A strong cyber infrastructure has been prepared to expose cyber crimes in the state and to provide relief by creating awareness among public,” said the DGP.
He said that UP cyber crime cell is continuously taking effective action and imparting training to police personnel to handle cases of cyber crime. The thrust is on redress of problems of victims of cyber crime
